With the Grass Radar you can detect Pokémon hidden in the Tall Grass and enter the High Grass Arena, where every entry holds a different encounter.
Craft it or buy it from another player.
Dylan stands at the north exit of Santalune. Talk to him to start the quest Sinais na Grama Alta.
Level 300 or higher. Even if another player gives you a Grass Radar, you must finish the quest before you can use it.
The Grass Radar only works in the Tall Grass areas of 14 cities: Azalea, Blackthorn, Cherrygrove, Coumarine, Dendemille, Fortree, Geosenge, Goldenrod, Lumiose, Mahogany, Mauville, Petalburg, Santalune, Violet
Enter a Tall Grass area.
Use the Grass Radar.
When it detects a Pokémon, you are taken to the High Grass Arena.
Each entry uses 1 charge. Hover over the radar to see the charges left.
You are outside the Tall Grass.
You don't have the required level.
You haven't finished the quest yet.
The radar has no charges left.
Using the last charge turns the item into a Discharged Grass Radar. Use 5 Batteries on the discharged radar to restore all 5 charges.
Recharging always takes 5 Batteries.
No Battery is used if you don't have enough.
A radar that still has charges can't be recharged.
Each entry spawns a single Pokémon. Defeating it completes the challenge. If you are defeated or time runs out, the arena closes.
| Moment | Common | Rare | Very rare | Extremely rare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calm | 80% | 15% | 4% | 1% |
| Usual | 72% | 20% | 7% | 1% |
| Busy | 60% | 25% | 12% | 3% |
| Exceptional | 45% | 30% | 20% | 5% |
These moments change every hour, and each city keeps its own schedule. Exploring different places can greatly raise your chances of meeting rare and shiny Pokémon.
During an Exceptional moment, the chance of meeting an extremely rare Pokémon is five times higher than during a Calm one.
Some Pokémon have a daily spawn limit shared by every player on the server.
| Pokémon | Limit |
|---|---|
| Sceptile, Meganium, Scizor | No limit |
| Vivillon Garden, Tsareena, Ribombee | 30 each |
| Steenee, Cutiefly, Horde Leader Ribombee, Horde Leader Sceptile | 20 each |
| Bounsweet | 10 |
| Each shiny Pokémon | 4 |
Spawns are released gradually through the day, so playing in the morning, afternoon or evening each brings new chances.
Once every available spawn of a Pokémon has been found, it leaves the encounters until a new spawn is released. The other Pokémon of that rarity stay available as usual.
Besides the usual encounters, the High Grass Arena has a special chance to reveal the Sceptile Boss.
Every common Pokémon you find raises your chance of facing the Sceptile Boss on a later entry.
The chance is yours alone: it is not shared with other players and does not reset when the day turns.
When the Sceptile Boss appears, the built-up chance starts over.
