To Mega Evolve, a Pokémon needs a Mega Stone and its trainer needs a Key Stone. Together they activate Mega Evolution, and the Pokémon reaches far greater power than normal.
Equip the Mega Stone
Right-click the Mega Stone, then click your Pokémon.
Held items
A Pokémon holding a Mega Stone can also hold a held item.
